Are we there yet? Where? Are we home yet? Hell in a hand basket? Where are we going? How will we know when we get there if we don’t know what the goal is? We need to be specific. “I don’t know” doesn’t cut it as an answer. The goal can change if it needs to but we need to be specific in our direction or we’ll waste a lot of time and fuel/energy. Even in wandering the goal is to discover a purpose, passion, or beauty we didn’t have before. If we just coast, if we’re just along for the ride we may not end up where we should.
Here’s an example: do we really want strangers in Washington controlling our futures? Do their desires, morals, and goals align with ours? If not, maybe we should step out of our comfort zone and raise our voices. Maybe we’ve been silently coasting for too long. I’ll admit I think I have. And I’m not really sure how to fix that but I’m starting here. I’m raising my voice. I’m choosing a direction.
I hate talking politics because I’m non-confrontational but how can I stay quiet when the people running the country I call home have no respect for each other, the American people, or human life? They want to take away our ability to protect ourselves, to educate our children ourselves, our autonomy. They want to pull us under the umbrella of big government to protect and provide for us sure but also to have leverage to control us.
I realize I’m starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I’m beginning to fear the direction we’re heading instead of being annoyed by it. God help us.
